Faygo Beverages, Inc. has won two D-Show awards for its “out of home campaign” Faygo Silhouettes series of billboards and “graphic design packaging” for its Faygo Cola 12 oz Glass Packaging created by New Century Creative.

“Faygo has been a Detroit icon for more than 106 years, celebrating our city, fun and bringing folks together ” said Al Chittaro, executive vice president of Faygo Beverages, Inc.  “New Century has helped us bring our message to the Detroit skyline with a fun nostalgia.”

The Sixth Annual D Show celebrates an outstanding year of creativity in Detroit and was held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Masonic Temple.

The D Show is dedicated to judging and awarding creativity in Detroit. The entries are anonymously submitted and reviewed by out-of-state judges from within the advertising industry. The 2013 D Show received the most entries in its history. At the show, the “D” Award is given to the best work across categories.

New Century Creative, a West Bloomfield based advertising agency, has worked with Faygo for a decade creating “dee-licious” outdoor and graphic design.

“We first designed Faygo’s retro branding and glass bottle product packaging…which then inspired us to incorporate the products as part of the artwork with silhouetted summertime fun,” said Jonn Shamoun, Creative Director at New Century Creative.  “Being recognized as having the best advertisement and packaging in Detroit is truly an honor.”

About Faygo

Founded by the Feigenson brothers, immigrant bakers from Russia, Faygo began as the Feigenson Brother Bottling Works on November 4, 1907.  In the 1920s, they pared down their name to Faygo because it was too long to print on bottles. The entrepreneurs were also credited with coining the term “Pop” for their soda because of the sound made when opening a bottle. The company expanded its business with a large facility on Gratiot Avenue in 1937, which serves as its bottling plant and headquarters to this day.

For more than 100 years, the company has developed several different types of soft drink beverages and a wide range of flavors including Detroit favorites, Redpop and Rock & Rye.  The company has been a part of the National Beverage family since 1987.

In April 2011, Faygo Beverages’ Orange Soda was voted “favorite orange” soda by Serious Eats, a Website focused on celebrating and sharing food enthusiasm through blogs and social networking communities. In its September 2009 issue, Bon Appétit magazine ranked Faygo Root Beer as one of the best Root Beers in America. For more information visit: www.facebook.com/faygo  or http://www.faygo.com.
